Job Description:
Reed Accountancy is currently partnered with an established client in the Haywards Heath area who are currently seeking a driven and enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join their team on and initial 6 month contract. This full-time role is perfect for someone with strong accounting and bookkeeping experience who thrives in a fast-paced and varied environment. The role may offer one work-from-home day upon completion of full training. Please note, due to the rural location of the company, having your own transport is essential.Day-to-day duties of the Finance Assistant: * Managing Accounts Payable, including reconciliation of supplier statements and processing invoices. Experience with DEXT is preferable, but training will be provided.
* Overseeing Accounts Receivable by processing sales invoices, following up with clients, and sending out statements.
* Conducting Credit Control activities, such as chasing payments via telephone/email and updating Credit Control spreadsheets.
* Handling telephone queries related to Accounts Receivable/Payable.
* Providing assistance and cover for other duties during holidays or sickness within the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications: * Proven work experience as a Finance Assistant or in a similar role with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales and purchase ledger.
* Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
* Proficient in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
* Ideally familiar with Xero Accounting software, though training will be provided.
* Strong organisational and time-keeping skills.
* Keen attention to detail with the ability to spot numerical errors.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a small accounts team.
* AAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
