The firm has a well-earned reputation as an Advisor to Entrepreneurs and Owner-Managed SMEs, and provides its clients with expert Accountancy & Business Advisory, Tax and Outsourced Financial Management solutions using a variety of cloud and digital accounting systems to offer clients full visibility and understanding of their financial performance.
THE OPPORTUNITY
A Senior Accountant position has arisen within the firm which offers responsibility for managing clients, reviewing work completed by junior staff and overseeing delivery of the firm’s bespoke solutions.
As a Senior Accountant your role will involve:
* Responsible for a team of 6 staff - 4 experienced and 2 junior
* Reviewing work performed by other team members
* Appraising your team and feeding back into the director team
* Managing the workflow and portfolio of bookkeeping. VAT and management accounts clients
* Liaison with other departments to support with year end work/corporation tax/personal tax/audits
* Portfolio of your own clients with some management accounts, VAT returns and attendance at client board meetings to support with advice
* Learning and development on complex VAT areas such as retail scheme, partial exemption, margin scheme, group VAT, duty and export rules
* Liaison with outsourcing team currently in pilot
* Looking at technology and ways of improving the processes - use of AI

THE PERSON
You will be an Accountancy professional able to demonstrate the following:
* AAT Qualified or ACCA Part-Qualified / ACCA / ACA Qualified
* Background within Accountancy Practice (c.5+ years)
* Experience of preparing Year-End Accounts and Tax Computations
* Experience of working with SME and Owner-Managed businesses
* Good working knowledge of Xero and possibly other online / cloud accounting software
