Job Description:
Academics Bristol are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join the SEND team within a mainstream secondary school in Bristol. This is your chance to support students in accessing the curriculum, developing socially and personally, and reaching their full potential.
Location: Bristol - BS5
Hours: 35 hours per week, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
Salary: £95 - £115 per day, depending on experience
Start Date: As soon as possible
In this vital role, you will assist students with special educational needs including Speech, language and Communication needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorder diagnosis and Moderate Learning Difficulty, both in the classroom and through small group or 1:1 support. Working closely with teachers and colleagues, you will implement learning activities, adopt tailored strategies, and provide encouragement that inspires every student to succeed.
About you
We are looking for someone who can:
*Understand classroom roles and responsibilities, with a focus on SEND support.
*Build positive relationships with pupils, showing empathy and patience.
*Engage and motivate students on a one-to-one or small group basis.
*Communicate effectively with staff, parents and external professionals.
*Organise and adapt learning activities to meet diverse needs.
*Demonstrate resilience, flexibility and a strong commitment to inclusion.
Essential requirements:
*GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent experience).
*Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (if not already achieved).
*Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the welfare of young people.
*Experience supporting students with special educational needs, physical disabilities or personal care needs.
