A modern, tech-driven accountancy firm in Crawley is looking for a confident and capable Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key position with real autonomy, flexibility, and room to grow.
Key responsibilities:
*Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies)
*Process purchase and sales invoices using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext and Hubdoc
*Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances weekly and monthly
*Submit VAT returns (Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting), ensuring MTD compliance
*Handle CIS returns and monthly & quarterly PAYE/CIS reconciliations
*Prepare accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers
*Liaise with clients to chase missing information and ensure timely bookkeeping
*Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with external accountants
*Lead MTD ITSA readiness from April 2026
What we’re looking for:
*AAT Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent experience)
*2+ years’ bookkeeping experience, ideally in an accountancy practice
*Proficient with Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and cloud-based accounting tools
*Comfortable working independently and directly with clients
*Strong knowledge of UK VAT rules, CIS, and payroll journals
*Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving skills
*Able to drive and commute to the Crawley office
