Job Description:
ECM Recruitment is currently recruiting for an English Teacher on behalf of a Jewish faith school in Barnet. This is a small independent secondary school for boys from Year 7 to Year 10. There are approximately 120 boys on roll.
The school is recruiting a part time English Teacher who will be available 4 hours in the afternoon Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours on a Friday. You will be required to teach 14 periods over the week between the hours of 1pm to 5pm. Some students will start English GCSE in Year 9, and others in Year 10.
The boys study Jewish studies in morning and secular studies in afternoon, normally from 1.30-4.15pm, so the working hours allow you time to arrive ahead of lessons and finish up working after your last period. There is also a short 30-minute break between lessons for the children to stop for prayers.
The ideal teacher will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). However, the school will also consider a teacher with QTLS or previous experience teaching English in another role. Alternatively, they will also consider a graduate of English, or an individual with an interest and passion for teaching. Previous teaching experience is beneficial but not essential if you have strong subject knowledge.
The role pays approximately £20 per hour, paying above the unqualified teacher pay scale. This can be discussed depending on the candidate and their skills, experience and qualifications (if any).
You will also have access to schemes of work, plans, resources etc. to help with teaching these lessons.
You should have strong behaviour management, and be able to engage and interact positively with the students.
You must be empathetic towards the Jewish ethos, and have a good awareness for safeguarding.
If you are a passionate teacher or aspiring teacher interested in this unique opportunity to teach English at this small independent Jewish school please contact Eve at ECM Recruitment to discuss this further.
