Suzy’s role has just expanded to cover a wider international remit. Which means we’re backfilling her Finance Director seat, and that seat is all about running the UK manufacturing business.
This isn’t a narrow "just the numbers" role. Yes, you’ll have full ownership of reporting, working capital, tax compliance, payroll, and balance sheet control. But, over time, the scope of the role will broaden across non-finance functions such as HR, IT, HSE, and Quality, too.
You’ll be the finance voice on the Operations Board, which means you’ll spend a lot of your time explaining numbers to people who don’t love numbers. You’ll challenge budget holders, keep performance on track, and make sure our governance is more than just a tick-box exercise.
What you’ll actually be doing:
*Making sure financial reporting and budgets happen on time, every time.
*Keeping a tight rein on controls, compliance, and governance
*Owning working capital and tax compliance. You’ll be the one keeping HMRC happy (or at least quiet).
*Spotting risks and shaping strategy
*Preparing data to support the less glamorous but essential stuff – insurance renewals, leases, etc.
What we’re looking for:
*A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
*A strong communicator – not just to finance folk, but to the wider business.
*Detail-obsessed but commercially sharp.
*Integrity. Non-negotiable.
*If you’ve worked in manufacturing before, great. If not, but you can prove you’ve thrived in a fast-paced finance environment, we’ll listen.
