Regulatory and Professional Discipline Solicitor
*Annual Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (DOE)
*Location: Guildford
*Job Type: Full-time / Hybrid
We are seeking a Regulatory and Professional Discipline Solicitor with 1 – 3 years’ PQE to join our highly regarded Healthcare Regulatory and Professional Discipline Team. This role is based in our Guildford office, where you will be part of a team that represents medical defence organisations and private clients across the country in regulatory, disciplinary, coronial, and criminal matters.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Advise lay and institutional clients on GMC/GDC investigations, Inquests, police investigations, prosecutions, and Health Board/Trust disciplinary matters.
*Manage your own caseload with supervision, ensuring case management records are maintained.
*Assist other lawyers in the team with their work, including supporting senior fee earners.
*Be flexible to assist with cases and instructions outside of normal working hours when required.
*Meet chargeable hours targets.
*Assist with the training and development of junior members of the team and training sessions provided to our institutional clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified solicitor with 1 – 3 years’ PQE (relevant additional experience will also be considered).
*Experience in some or all of the specified areas of professional regulation.
*Knowledge of healthcare regulation processes (ideally GMC and GDC proceedings).
*Advocacy experience in matters such as Pre Inquest Hearings, Inquests, Interim Orders Hearings, and police interviews (preferred but not essential).
*Willingness to extend existing skills and develop expertise in this area of law.
*Conscientious, self-motivated, hardworking, responsive, with critical thinking abilities.
*Excellent communication, organisation, and analytical skills.
*Ability to work to strict deadlines and timetables, whilst maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
*Good attention to detail and IT skills.
*Ability to work as part of a team and also possessing initiative and a "can-do" attitude.
