Job Description:
Step into Leadership with a Leading Food Manufacturer. We are recruiting for a Mill Team Leader with previous experience within FMCG manufacturing.
Our client, a respected name in the UK food manufacturing industry, is looking for a confident and motivated Operations Team Leader to oversee milling and production operations at their state-of-the-art facility in South Essex. You may already be a team leader or you may be aspiring to this level.
This is a hands-on leadership role - perfect for someone who’s worked in production, manufacturing, or operations (ideally within FMCG or food) and is now ready to lead people, drive performance, and make an impact. With clear succession planning to, this is an ideal role for an ambitious, technically minded individual who wants to grow in a fast-paced environment.
South Essex (car needed for location)
Monday to Friday shifts 6am-2pm and 2pm -10pm
The Role
As Mill Team Leader / Supervisor, you’ll lead a dedicated team of millers and intake operatives, taking full responsibility for milling operations including intake, milling, and bran out loading. You’ll be the key decision-maker for your shift, driving performance improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead and develop a team of mill operatives across all milling activities
*Drive performance improvements in Quality, OEE, and safety metrics
*Manage contractor relationships and ensure safe working practices
*Report on KPIs and operational performance to senior management
*Lead continuous improvement initiatives and embed lean manufacturing principles
*Ensure 100% compliance with HACCP, BRC standards, and food safety requirements
*Manage shift resources, training plans, and holiday coverage
*Coordinate with cross-functional teams to optimize mill performance
Experience Required:
*Either an experienced junior manager/supervisor/team leader or someone who is aspiring to this level
*Leadership experience in manufacturing environment (Food / FMCG preferred, manufacturing experience essential)
*Experience in food manufacturing - production / operations
*Data-driven approach with strong analytical skills
*Good understanding of food safety as well as Health & Safety
*Exposure to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
