Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Taunton to recruit a passionate and committed Teacher of English for a maternity cover position starting in January 2026.

The team is collaborative, forward-thinking, and dedicated to delivering a rich, inclusive curriculum that promotes high standards of literacy and student engagement.
About the Role *Teach English across KS3 and KS4, with mixed ability groups in Years 7-9 and set groups in Years 10-11.
*Contribute to curriculum development and help shape the department’s 5-year plan.
*Support students through engaging lessons, targeted interventions, and extra-curricular activities such as writing competitions, author visits, and creative clubs.
*Promote reading for pleasure and help develop students’ cultural capital.
What We’re Looking For We’re seeking a strong classroom practitioner who:
*Holds QTS and a relevant degree.
*Has experience teaching English in a mainstream secondary setting.
*Is passionate about literacy and committed to improving outcomes for all learners, including disadvantaged and SEN students.
*Is keen to get involved in the wider life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor.
