Head of Health and Safety Operations
*Hourly Rate: £28.16 PAYE
*Location: London, St Pancras
*Job Type: Temporary with potential to become permanent, full time onsite (will consider part time for right candidate)
We are seeking a Head of Health and Safety Operations to support the Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing the organisation’s Health & Safety Policy at a national library. This role involves leading the health and safety strategy and managing the Health & Safety team, including the Health and Wellbeing Manager. The successful candidate will act as the technical lead and competent person for health and safety across all sites, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Lead the development and delivery of health and safety strategy and tactical planning across the organisation.
*Manage the Health & Safety team and the Health and Wellbeing Manager, ensuring service levels are adhered to.
*Act as the Health & Safety technical lead and provide technical expertise across all sites.
*Coordinate and develop training programmes to improve health and safety awareness at all levels.
*Review and manage safety risks and provide leadership in this area.
*Lead and support work with the Health and Wellbeing Manager in developing and implementing the organisation’s Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy.
*Act as a duty Manager (Incident Control Officer) within the operational roster.
*Advise on the Security and Safety strategy and engage key internal and external stakeholders to deliver change improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in Health and Safety management within a corporate or public sector environment.
*Significant experience in front line management of incident response procedures/teams.
*NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ equivalent (or working towards).
*Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
*Experience within health and safety in exhibitions/public spaces is preferred.
*Ability to travel to other sites, including monthly trips to York.
