Job Description:
Financial Controller
*Annual Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
*Location: Southend (hybrid)
*Job Type: Full-time
Reed Finance are partnering with our client, who are seeking a commercially astute and experienced Financial Controller to oversee our company’s financial operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of financial information, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining robust financial governance. It offers a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to lead a finance team, drive efficiencies, and significantly contribute to the strategic direction of the business.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring all financial reporting is accurate and timely.
*Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and board reporting packs.
*Oversee statutory reporting and ensure compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, and other relevant regulations.
*Manage the budgeting processes and monitor financial performance against budgets.
*Coordinate year-end audits and liaise with external auditors.
*Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT, PSA, and Corporation Tax.
*Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures.
*Provide financial insights and analysis to support business strategy and decision-making.
*Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and funding requirements.
*Support the implementation of new systems or processes within the finance team.
*Mentor and develop members of the finance team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
*Minimum 5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience, ideally in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
*Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
*Proficiency in finance systems and advanced Excel skills.
*Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders.
*High level of integrity and professional ethics.
*Experience using SAP would be beneficial but not essential.
