The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Solution Designer to take a lead role in shaping and delivering innovative infrastructure and cloud solutions within a complex enterprise environment.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on solving challenging design problems, balancing technology risk against business value, and defining architectures that are secure, scalable, and future-ready. You’ll collaborate across technology, security, and operations teams to design solutions that drive modernisation and consistency across the organisation’s digital estate.

Key Responsibilities *Design, develop, and implement high-quality solutions that meet business needs while aligning with modern software engineering and automation practices.
*Define and implement workload placement strategies that leverage cloud capabilities such as elasticity, serverless, and containerisation.
*Produce best-practice designs incorporating security and resiliency principles, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks.
*Contribute to standardised design patterns, enhancing reusability and consistency across the technology landscape.
*Support operational teams with fault finding, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
*Conduct design impact assessments, analysing risks, costs, and capacity implications.
*Prepare and maintain detailed documentation and architecture artefacts to support governance and design approval processes.
Skills and Experience

Essential: *Proven experience as a Solution Designer, Infrastructure Architect, or similar role within large-scale or regulated environments.
*Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) - including SDDC, vCenter, ESX 6.x/7.x, vRA, vRO, and vROPs.
*Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide robust, scalable solutions.
*Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills (Confluence, architecture repositories, etc.).
Desirable: *Solid understanding of network technologies, particularly VMware NSX-V / NSX-T.
*VMware certifications (e.g. VCP6.5-DCV, VCP6-NV) highly advantageous.
*Familiarity with containerisation platforms (OpenShift, KubeVirt, Harvester).
*Awareness of cloud migration and infrastructure virtualisation best practices.
