Job Description:
A leading global organisation is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their Watford-based finance team, supporting operations across the UK. This role offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact by driving process excellence, ensuring compliance with both UK GAAP and local statutory requirements, and championing continuous improvement. What you’ll do:
As a Senior Financial Accountant based in Watford, you will play a pivotal role in supporting both UK operations and international branches. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing complex VAT submissions, overseeing corporate tax management processes, preparing statutory financial statements for various entities within the group, arranging payments between companies and HMRC, responding to official correspondence with professionalism, forecasting tax liabilities for reporting purposes, supporting overseas teams during audits or process implementations, assisting with monthly closing activities such as journal entries and reconciliations, tracking capital projects for accurate asset capitalization, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls, building proactive relationships across finance teams globally through effective communication and collaboration initiatives. Success in this role will require you to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills while fostering partnerships between accounting departments and other business units.
*Prepare ad hoc statutory financial statements for group entities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and regulatory compliance
*Assist with monthly closing activities including journal entries, accruals, reporting support, analysis activities, balance sheet preparation, P&L statements, and supporting schedules.
*Oversee corporate tax management by compiling all relevant information for third-party preparation of annual corporate tax returns and reviewing completed returns prior to submission.
*Ensure all claims and elections are submitted promptly to minimise tax liabilities across the group’s operations.
*Arrange payments to HMRC and between group companies efficiently while maintaining clear records for audit purposes.
*Support the Corporate Tax team based overseas in completing all tax returns, assisting with governmental audits, and implementing new processes to ensure proper taxation for both company and customers
What you bring:
Your background as a Senior Financial Accountant will include substantial experience in managing complex financial accounting tasks within multinational organisations. Your ability to communicate clearly-both verbally and in writing-will enable you to foster positive relationships across global teams while influencing outcomes at multiple levels. You will have demonstrated success working collaboratively within cross-functional groups as well as independently when required. Your understanding of accounting standards such as UK GAAP (FRS 102), technical principles plus familiarity with digital finance platforms like Oracle or Hyperion Financial Management / OneStream will set you apart. Additionally your commitment to process excellence attention to detail analytical thinking problem-solving capabilities will help drive continuous improvement throughout the organisation’s finance function.
