Role: Special Education Teacher

Salary: £140-£170 per day

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team, working with students who have diverse educational needs. This role is ideal for someone who has experience with students who have been home-schooled, expelled, or have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. The position involves supporting students at Level 1 as they prepare for vocational courses, helping them build essential skills for their educational progression.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Teach and support students across a variety of units within the Ascentis progression programmes, including Personal Learning Skills, Independent Skills for Living in the Community, and Preparing for Work.
*Address the individual needs of students, some of whom have diagnosed needs or have been previously home-schooled.
*Create a supportive and understanding environment to help students develop assertive decision-making and improve their personal learning skills.
*Engage with students to build their confidence and skills, preparing them for the next steps in their educational journeys.
*Implement strategies to manage classroom behaviour effectively, particularly with students who may have had challenging behaviours in the past.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
*Experience working with students with SEMH needs or similar.
*Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students outside mainstream education.
*Empathetic approach and a strong commitment to student development.
*Ability to plan and execute lessons that meet the needs of students with diverse educational backgrounds.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
