Job Description:
Financial Accountant (Contract Role)
*Location: City of London
*Job Type: Contract 4-5 months
*Daily Rate: Circa £450 per day Inside IR35/Umbrella
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant to join our clients Finance team on a contract basis, who operate within the transport sector. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive financial forecasting, managing audits, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and standards.
This role requires a fully qualified Accountant ideally ACA qualified from a practice background with strong technical accounting and audit skills.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Prepare detailed forecasts for the balance sheet, including all assets, liabilities, and equity positions, ensuring data accuracy and readiness for system uploads.
*Act as the primary contact for external auditors, managing the audit process efficiently and providing necessary documentation.
*Liaise with internal audit teams, facilitating access to records and implementing audit recommendations.
*Maintain and update the capex model, track fixed asset transactions, and ensure accurate asset valuation and reporting.
*Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and provide summaries of risks and opportunities.
*Advise on complex accounting issues, ensuring adherence to best practices within the Finance team.
*Occasionally manage cashflow forecasts and oversee timely financial transactions in the absence of the Treasury Manager.
*Draft and review financial sections of board reports, explaining balance sheet and cashflow variances.
*Apply and ensure compliance with IFRS 16 standards in lease accounting and maintain documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
*Strong technical accounting knowledge with substantial financial accounting experience.
*Excellent in managing and reconcile balance sheets.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
*Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
*Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
