Job Description:
Capital Accountant (Contract Role)
*Location: City of London
*Contract Duration: 4-5 months contract
*Daily Rate: Circa £450 per day Inside IR35/Umbrella
We are seeking a qualified Capital Accountant to manage and report on all capital accounting activities within our client’s Finance team, who are a leading transport operator. This contract position is crucial for the development, implementation, and monitoring of capital budgets, maintaining fixed asset registers, and overseeing capital project reporting.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, aiding strategic decision-making and statutory reporting.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Asset Management: Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register in accordance with policy.
*Budget Oversight: Lead capital budget preparations, monitor project spend, and provide financial forecasts.
*Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements, prepare statutory returns, and support annual account production.
*Stakeholder Interaction: Provide capital project support and advice, liaise with auditors, and assist in policy development.
*Process Improvement: Implement enhancements in capital accounting processes and update financial models using tools
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
*Strong knowledge in capital accounting, fixed asset management, and IFRS.
*Advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with financial systems like Vena.
*Proven experience in capital budget management and statutory reporting, preferably in a large organization or public sector.
*Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
