Job Title: STEM Technician
Location: South-East London
Purpose of the Role:
To support the delivery of high-quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education by preparing, maintaining, and managing practical resources and equipment. The technician plays a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and engaging practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
*Preparation & Support:
*Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical lessons in science, technology, and engineering.
*Assist teaching staff during practical sessions and demonstrations.
*Trial and develop new experiments and demonstrations.
*Maintenance & Safety:
*Clean, maintain, and store laboratory and workshop equipment safely.
*Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessments.
*Collaboration:
*Liaise with teaching staff to understand curriculum needs.
*Work as part of a team of technicians or independently, depending on the size of the department.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
*GCSEs (A*-C) or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science (minimum).
*A-levels, BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree in a STEM subject (preferred).
*Experience in a laboratory, workshop, or technical environment.
*Knowledge of health and safety procedures in educational settings.
*Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
