Job Description:
Senior/Semi-Senior Practice Accountant to join our small, hardworking team in the Shropshire area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to contribute to a supportive and dynamic work environment.
Client Details
This established independent accountancy practice has been serving businesses and individuals across the Shropshire and West Midlands region for several decades. Known for its hands-on, personable approach, the firm has built an excellent reputation among local owner-managed businesses, family-run enterprises, and professionals who value trusted financial guidance.
You’ll be joining a small but highly experienced team that believes in quality over quantity; taking the time to understand clients’ needs and building genuine, long-term relationships. The practice’s success has come from combining traditional accounting values with modern technology, using cloud platforms like Xero and QuickBooks to streamline workflows and enhance client service.
The firm continues to grow steadily through referrals and reputation, creating a stable and secure environment for ambitious accountants who want to develop their skills without the pressures of a large corporate firm.
Description
*Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies for review and completion.
*Preparing and submitting VAT returns on behalf of clients.
*Responding to and resolving client queries in a timely and professional manner.
*Assisting clients with cloud bookkeeping systems (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and providing training/support when needed.
*Supporting senior staff and partners with ad hoc accounting and advisory work, such as management accounts or forecasting.
Profile
*Have solid experience using accounting and bookkeeping software, ideally including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage (or similar cloud-based systems).
*Be comfortable preparing accounts using practice software; experience with IRIS, CCH, or Digita would be an advantage, but not essential.
*Demonstrate a proactive, organised, and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
*Thrive both independently and within a small, collaborative team where everyone supports each other.
*Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients and build long-term relationships.
Job Offer
*A competitive salary package.
*Continuing professional development opportunities.
