Role Purpose We’re looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead and manage all warehouse operations at a busy site in Gateshead. The successful candidate will ensure service excellence, safety, and productivity across all areas of the operation. This is a key leadership role, responsible for people management, cost control, resource planning, and maintaining high operational standards to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & People Management * Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse warehouse team to achieve performance, safety, and service objectives.
* Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
* Manage recruitment, training, and performance development for all warehouse staff.
* Drive employee engagement through clear communication, coaching, and recognition.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies, employment law, and health & safety regulations.
Operational Excellence * Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including goods in/out, storage, inventory control, and dispatch.
* Monitor and analyse operational KPIs to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the wider operation.
* Ensure full adherence to customer service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
Financial & Budget Control * Manage the warehouse budget, ensuring cost efficiency and effective resource utilisation.
* Prepare and analyse financial and operational reports to support decision-making.
* Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Skills & Experience Required * Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management, ideally within a fast-paced 3PL or transport environment.
* Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
* Excellent operational planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Solid understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.
* Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and performance metrics.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
