SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an experienced KS4-focused Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision setting in Rotherham.
About the School
This position is based at a Pupil Referral Unit in Rotherham that places "Building Positive Relationships" at the heart of its provision. The school works with students who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education, as well as those referred through partnership arrangements.
The school prides itself on creating opportunities for all learners, focusing on personalised support and strategies to overcome barriers to education. Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student has the chance to succeed in a nurturing and structured environment.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team supporting Secondary learners. This role involves working with small groups and one-to-one sessions, providing support across all aspects of the school’s provision.
The successful candidate will need to have:
*Previous experience in SEMH schools, Alternative Provision (AP), or Pupil Referral Units (PRU).
*Proven ability to work with challenging behaviour and implement effective strategies.
*Strong understanding of the Secondary curriculum and ability to support learners in core subjects.
*Ideally Team Teach trained (or willing to undertake training).
*Resilient, patient, and committed to making a positive impact on students’ lives.
