Job Description:
Employment Support Worker
*Hourly Rate: £17.18 (PAYE)
*Location: Sheffield centre with hybrid working
*Job Type: Full-time
Join Opportunity Sheffield, part of Sheffield City Council’s Employment and Skills Service, at a time of growth and innovation. We are expanding our services to deliver a new initiative aimed at providing clear, structured pathways into sustainable employment for young people aged 16–30 who are not currently in employment, education, or training and who face barriers to entering the workforce.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Deliver impartial, professional information, advice, and guidance (IAG) to individuals accessing employment support through Opportunity Sheffield.
*Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and employers to deliver a high-quality service that meets participant needs and programme goals.
*Engage and connect participants with suitable opportunities that enhance their skills, confidence, and progression towards employment.
*Act as a positive ambassador for Opportunity Sheffield and promote the range of programmes available.
*Develop a strong understanding of programme requirements to ensure delivery against agreed performance targets.
*Contribute to the continuous improvement of employment support projects through innovation and reflective practice.
*Plan and manage your own workload effectively to meet deadlines and service objectives.
*Identify potential risks and opportunities and escalate these appropriately to Programme Managers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in an employment support or related advisory role.
*Proven ability to motivate and empower people facing barriers to work.
*Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing priorities.
*Committed to achieving positive outcomes for individuals and communities across Sheffield.
