Job Description:
SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Psychology Grad - Primary SEN Unit - Kennington, Near Vauxhall A welcoming Primary School in Kennington, near Vauxhall, rated Good by Ofsted, is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEN Unit supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a strong, supportive team providing structured learning and emotional support to children aged 5-11. The school has an inclusive ethos, excellent facilities, and a passionate SENCo who values teamwork and consistency. Psychology graduates are more than welcome to apply, to put their theoretical knowledge into action.
The SEN Teaching Assistant will work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting children with Autism who require routine, sensory regulation, and personalised approaches to learning.
Responsibilities for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism within the SEN Unit.
* Implement tailored learning strategies and behaviour plans.
* Use PECS, visual timetables, or Makaton to support communication.
* Foster social interaction and independence through positive reinforcement.
* Collaborate with the SENCo, class teachers, and therapists.
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Experience supporting children with Autism or other complex needs.
* A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
Teaching Assistant - Details:
* Location: Kennington, near Vauxhall (excellent transport links)
* Start Date: Immediate
* Hours: 8:30am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday
* Pay: £85-£105 per day (depending on experience)
