Job Description:
Ellerman City Liners, part of the Uniserve Group, is seeking a Junior Finance Controller to oversee our financial operations and support on group wide projects. This role combines financial expertise with project management skills to drive financial accuracy, process improvement, and strategic decision-making.
This role can be based in either our London (Fenchurch street) or Upminster offices.
The role does require business travel from time to time, mainly in Europe and UK, as well as reporting to the Head of Operational Finance of Ellerman / Viasea group.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Control:
*Oversee accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
*Support development and implementation internal financial policies and controls
*Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
*Support reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
*Monitor and improve data quality in operational and finance systems
*Analyse deviations between management reporting and accounting data
*Support monthly / annual closing processes in coordination with the accounting department
Support group projects:
*Support project management, including cost and budget monitoring
*Conduct variance analyses, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions
*Prepare clear, data-driven reports and impactful management presentations
Support Management Decisions:
*Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making processes
*Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
*Support the execution of digitisation initiatives, focusing on financial tools and dashboards
Qualifications:
*Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
*Minimum two years of experience in financial controlling
*Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis
*Good communication and presentation skills
*Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Power BI, and financial management software
*Experience in the logistics sector is a plus
