Job Description:
Role: Residential Development Lawyer (Housebuilding & Strategic Land)
Location: Leeds (hybrid/flexible)
Salary: £75,000-£95,000 + bonus
PQE: c. 3-10 years’ post-qualification
Contract: Permanent
We’re partnering with a leading UK law firm to appoint a Real Estate Lawyer into its Housebuilding & Strategic Land team. You’ll join a high-growth national platform working with major housebuilders, regional developers, promoters, RPs/housing associations, landowners and local authorities on complex residential development mandates.
The work you’ll handle
Site acquisitions & disposals (single assets and multi-site programmes)
Conditional/unconditional contracts, options & overage
Strategic land: promotion agreements, hybrid agreements, collaboration/consortium structures
Affordable housing (incl. golden brick, back-to-back disposals)
Infrastructure & easements: s38/s104/s278, utilities, adoption and service media rights
Site assembly, estate set-up, service charge/management agreements
Liaison with Planning, Construction, Environment, Agriculture, Litigation & Tax specialists on joined-up delivery (VAT/SDLT awareness expected)
What we’re looking for
3-10 PQE (Solicitor/Associate/Senior Associate) with strong residential development experience
Track record acting for housebuilders, developers, promoters, landowners, RPs and/or local authorities
Confident running matters with appropriate supervision; excellent drafting and negotiation
Commercial, client-facing mindset with developing BD relationships
Comfortable in a collaborative, hybrid environment and keen to mentor juniors (as appropriate to level)
