Solution Architect - Microsoft / Application
Rate: £600 - £650 Inside IR35 (total to umbrella)
Location: Kent (2 days per week on-site)
Duration: 6 months


About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to take ownership of a broad technical domain and roadmap, shaping architectural direction across a modern Microsoft technology landscape. You will propose solutions to business challenges, define and govern architectural standards and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, secure and compliant technology.
This is a generalist architecture role requiring strong breadth across Azure Infrastructure, Microsoft Purview, the M365 collaboration stack and Dynamics 365. You will work closely with Architecture, IT Leadership, Programme Management and Delivery teams to drive alignment between business change and technical solutions.
Success in this role relies on exceptional communication skills. Someone who can influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, challenge third-party suppliers where needed and confidently guide technology decisions.
Key Responsibilities
*Own the technical architecture for your domain, ensuring alignment to enterprise principles, standards and roadmaps.
*Understand organisational objectives and recommend cost effective, workable solutions.
*Develop an integrated view of IT architecture using consistent methods and industry standard frameworks.
*Maintain a central repository of architecture artefacts to support technology decision making.
*Produce high quality solution designs that are pragmatic, well estimated and aligned with best practice.
*Review analysis, development and testing outputs to ensure they meet business needs.
*Support the definition and implementation of operational and business process changes.
*Communicate complex concepts clearly through written proposals, presentations and workshops.
*Provide high quality consultancy to IT teams, business stakeholders and external partners.
*Contribute to enterprise architecture roadmaps and the evolution of architecture practice.
*Work in a fast-paced Agile environment, supporting multiple delivery squads and proactively managing a pipeline of upcoming work.
*Architect Azure Infrastructure solutions that meet scalability, security and enterprise architecture requirements.
*Define and govern data governance and compliance strategies using Microsoft Purview.
*Lead the architectural design and integration of M365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange).
*Provide architectural oversight for Dynamics 365 platforms, challenging third-party suppliers where necessary.
*Collaborate with product owners, delivery managers and engineers to drive consensus on solution designs.
*Present architectural artefacts and rationale for executive and governance approval.
*Resolve conflicts between business and technical perspectives through evidence-based decision making.
What We’re Looking For:
*Broad, generalist Solution Architect with strong experience across the Microsoft ecosystem.
*Expertise in Azure, Microsoft Purview, M365 and Dynamics 365.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
*Comfortable challenging third-party technical decisions.
*Experience working in Agile, multi-team delivery environments.
*Strong understanding of digital platforms and enterprise scale technologies.
