SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor - Havering
About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Tutor to provide bespoke, 1:1 educational support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are currently out of mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about making a difference and delivering highly personalised learning experiences.
As an SEN Specialist Tutor, you will:
*Design and deliver individualised learning plans tailored to each student’s needs, abilities, and interests.
*Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language difficulties, and other complex learning challenges.
*Focus on bridging gaps in education, boosting confidence, and re-engaging learners who may have been out of school for an extended period.
*Provide structure and routine to help pupils develop positive learning habits and improve attainment.
*Work closely with Prospero Teaching and local authorities to monitor progress and ensure effective outcomes.
This role is ideal for a qualified teacher or experienced tutor who wants to move away from the traditional classroom setting and deliver flexible, impactful sessions that truly change lives.
Key Details
*Location: Havering and surrounding areas
*Position: SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor
*Hours: 10-20 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
*Start Date: ASAP
*Contract Type: Temporary, ongoing
*Pay Rate: From £25 per hour
*Session Length: Minimum 1 hour, maximum 3 hours per session
What We’re Looking For
*Qualifications: *QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) preferred
*QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification also considered

*Experience: *Minimum 6 months experience working with SEN pupils in a UK school or tutoring environment
*Strong understanding of strategies for supporting diverse learning needs

*Skills: *Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying abilities
*Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

*Safeguarding: *Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)

Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must:
*Have the Right to Work in the UK
*Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
*Provide two professional references covering the last two years
