Full-time, Permanent Office based first (1-3 months), then Hybrid
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all payroll activities. This is a key leadership role responsible for compliance with legal regulations, continuous operational improvement, and aligning payroll processes with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
*Lead and mentor the payroll team, fostering professional development and high standards.
*Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution on a monthly and weekly basis via BACS.
*Maintain detailed payroll records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
*Stay updated on payroll legislation and implement necessary changes for compliance.
*Liaise with management and external bodies, attending seminars for legislative updates.
*Calculate and process annual pay awards and backdated payments.
*Accurately calculate Tax, National Insurance, and statutory obligations (e.g., maternity, student loans, court orders).
*Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear resolutions.
*Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
*Ensure accurate setup of new employees and manage pension auto-enrolment compliance.
*Lead payroll-related projects, delivering on time and within budget.
*Collaborate with HR and other departments to achieve organisational objectives.

*In-depth knowledge of payroll systems and legislation

*CIPP qualification or equivalent (Essential)
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Essentia
Experience
*Proven experience managing payroll for a large organisation
*Experience with payroll systems such as iTrent, Sage, or similar
*Track record of leading payroll projects successfully
