Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst to join a highly respected finance team based in Nottingham. This position offers you the chance to transform complex data into meaningful insights, providing precise analysis, insightful reporting, and forward-looking models. You will play a pivotal role in supporting business growth and operational excellence, working closely with key stakeholders from various departments.
As an Interim Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst based in Nottingham, you will be at the heart of transforming financial data into valuable insights that inform strategic decision-making. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading critical budgeting processes, producing executive-level reporting packs for senior management, analysing cost centre performance, tracking capital expenditure projects, and developing robust financial models. You will collaborate extensively with stakeholders from Group Finance, Operations, Commercial teams, and other departments to ensure alignment on forecasts and financial objectives. By providing clear explanations of variances and delivering actionable recommendations through your reports, you will help maintain financial discipline across the business. Your ability to coordinate data sourcing efforts internally while maintaining thorough documentation will be essential in supporting audit requirements. In addition to these core duties, you will have opportunities to contribute to scenario planning initiatives that shape future business strategies.
*Lead the budgeting and forecasting process by coordinating timelines, templates, and communication across all relevant teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
*Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including Group Finance, Operational Finance, and Commercial Finance to facilitate effective collaboration and information sharing.
*Prepare and deliver comprehensive Weekly Board Packs covering Profit & Loss statements, operational performance pages, and commercial updates for senior leadership review.
*Work closely with operational and commercial teams to understand variances in financial results, providing clear explanations and actionable recommendations.
*Produce detailed monthly Capex reports by liaising with the Central Assets team to understand expected capitalisation and reconcile positions against the month-end balance sheet.
*Track actuals versus budget for Capex projects, preparing supporting commentary for review with the Central Capex team and updating forecasts as required.
*Review and analyse monthly cost centre reports produced by Central Finance, investigating key variances against budget or forecast by engaging directly with cost centre owners.
*Provide period reporting with actionable insights that support financial discipline and control for departmental owners across the organisation.
*Coordinate with internal teams to source accurate data for monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual reports while maintaining audit trails and documentation for all submissions.
*Support the development of ad hoc financial models for scenario planning and sensitivity analysis, serving as a finance liaison to departments throughout the organisation.
What you bring:
To excel as an Interim Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst in this role based in Nottingham, you will bring proven experience from previous FP&A positions where you have demonstrated your ability to interpret complex financial data sets. Your background as a qualified or part qualified accountant ensures you possess strong technical knowledge of accounting standards. You are adept at building collaborative relationships across diverse teams-your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate effectively with both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders alike. Your advanced proficiency in Excel allows you to develop sophisticated models that support scenario planning initiatives. You are comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising on accuracy or attention to detail. Your experience preparing executive-level reports means you can distil intricate information into clear narratives that guide decision-makers. Above all else, your commitment to teamwork ensures you contribute positively within a supportive environment focused on continuous improvement.
*Qualified or QBE, demonstrating a solid foundation in accounting principles.
*Minimum three years of experience working within a Financial Planning & Analysis function in a fast-paced environment.
*Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple finance teams and business units.
*Exceptional analytical skills combined with a methodical approach to problem-solving that enables you to interpret complex financial data effectively.
*Essential: Ability to model business unit P&Ls, balance sheets, cashflows; strong understanding of profit & loss mechanics as well as cash flow dynamics.
*Essential: Advanced Excel skills including proficiency in pivot tables, lookups (VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP), SUMIFS functions, INDEX/MATCH formulas for robust financial modelling.
*Essential: Experience partnering with operational and commercial finance teams to deliver impactful business insights.
*Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level reporting packs for senior management review; able to present complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
*Ability to manage demanding workloads efficiently while balancing pace with accuracy under tight deadlines.
*Proven track record of working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
