Head of Sales UK SME£80,000 to £90,000

Join a fast-growing team as the Head of Sales UK SME and lead the UK SME sales function to deliver ambitious growth targets. You will manage and develop a high-performing team of B2B sales professionals, driving new business acquisition across the SME segment. This hands-on role combines execution, coaching, and performance management while fostering collaboration with commercial and operational teams.
What You Will Do*Lead, mentor, and coach a team of New Business focused BDMs and Sales Executives across the UK.
*Set and monitor KPIs, ensuring alignment with revenue growth and margin targets.
*Drive a high-performance, proactive sales culture focused on new business and account expansion.
*Own the SME pipeline and deliver new business across targeted sectors, regions, and territories.
*Support the team in high-value deal closures and complex negotiations.
*Identify and act on market opportunities for SME growth across service lines including general waste, recycling, equipment, shredding, and hazardous waste.
*Oversee lead generation, prospecting activities, and CRM discipline across the team.
*Collaborate with Telesales, Marketing, and Tendering teams to align campaigns and bids.
*Lead onboarding and account implementation for all new customer wins.
*Work cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Customer Services, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless mobilisation of new SME contracts.
What You Bring*5 to 8 years of B2B new business sales experience, including at least 2 years in a sales leadership role.
*Experience leading and managing managers to deliver performance excellence.
*Proven success in growing SME sales teams and delivering consistent revenue growth.
*Strong negotiation, presentation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
*Ability to translate high-level sales strategies into tactical sales plans.
*Results-driven with a hands-on coaching and leadership approach.
*Familiarity with CRM systems and data-led sales tracking.
*Understanding of SME customer behaviours and buying cycles.
*Commercially astute, with knowledge of pricing, margin, and sales profitability.
*Willingness to travel nationally across the UK as required.
What Would Make You Stand Out*Knowledge of waste, recycling, or environmental services.
*Strong understanding of waste management regulations and best practices.
*Leadership or mentoring experience.
Experience Required*5 to 8 years of B2B new business sales experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a sales leadership role.
