About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cognition and Learning SEN Teacher to join a specialist provision in Calderdale. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives on making a difference for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), including those with additional needs such as autism and communication challenges.
You will design and deliver individualised learning programmes that focus on cognitive development, functional skills, and academic progress, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with cognition and learning needs.
*Use multi-sensory approaches and assistive technology to support engagement and understanding.
*Implement and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with SENCOs and external professionals.
*Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting strategies to meet individual targets.
*Foster a positive, nurturing classroom environment that promotes independence and confidence.
*Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Requirements
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
*Experience teaching pupils with MLD, SLD, or complex learning needs.
*Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and SEN best practice.
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
*Resilience, creativity, and a commitment to pupil wellbeing.
*A valid Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
