Job Title: Senior Planning Manager
Location:Preston Brook, Cheshire
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading land investment and promotion business as they look to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Manager to their team in Preston Brook. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute planning professional to contribute to high-profile, complex developments across the UK.
The Role As a Senior Planning Manager, you will take a key role in managing planning projects from initial feasibility through Local Plan promotion, planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and appeals. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders-including developers, landowners, investors, and multidisciplinary consultant teams-to secure commercially sound and effective planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: *Leading the preparation of planning strategies, appraisals, and supporting documents
*Analysing site histories and interpreting local and national planning policy
*Producing clear and compelling planning statements for development proposals
*Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
*Working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants
*Monitoring and managing planning applications through to determination
About You: *Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
*Chartered Member of the RTPI
*At least 5 years’ experience in planning, ideally within consultancy, a housebuilder, a promoter, or local authority
*Strong understanding of planning policy and the UK planning system
*Excellent communication and report-writing skills
*Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
*Commercially minded with the confidence to manage complex planning matters
