Job Description:
Business Support Officer
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary
*Pay Rate: £12.59 per hr paye
*Location: Bolton Council, Bradley Fold, Radcliffe, BL2 6RS
*Duration: Till April 2026
Bury Council Waste Management are looking for a proactive and versatile Business Support Officer to assist with the day-to-day business needs. This role involves a wide range of administrative tasks, from responding to customer inquiries to supporting our collection teams. This position is based in Bradley Fold, Radcliffe, and offers a flexible working schedule within the core hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Retrieve and manipulate information from computerised databases, create non-standard reports, and correct errors.
*Produce and format presentations using computerised packages.
*Assist with the development and implementation of new office and information systems.
*Ensure consistency across various systems through cross-checking.
*Analyse and validate service-specific information, requesting additional details or clarification as needed.
*Produce high-quality communications, including complex, confidential, and sensitive reports and briefing notes.
*Coordinate and organise business support for seminars and large events, including preparing agendas and undertaking progress chasing.
*Monitor and maintain budget information for projects.
*Develop knowledge of the service area to respond to complex queries and coordinate large events.
*Deputise for Team Leaders, providing management support and coordinating work tasks.
*Handle Freedom of Information requests, Subject Access Requests, and Environmental Information Regulations requests.
*Support corporate priorities and initiatives, including elections and inspections.
*Coordinate project work and lead specific project work streams.
*Order goods and services, raise invoices, and manage post and equipment maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in administrative or support roles, preferably within a public sector or waste management context.
*Strong organisational and time management skills.
*Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and other administrative software.
*Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
*Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information.
*A valid Basic DBS certificate will be required for the position
