A specialist secondary school in Kingston Upon Thames is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a range of social, emotional, and communication needs, including ASD, SEMH, and associated learning difficulties.
The school provides a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to learning, offering structured routines, sensory-friendly spaces, vocational learning opportunities, and outdoor areas that support students’ engagement and wellbeing.

Person Specification
*Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally SEMH and/or ASD
*Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with pupils
*A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Willingness to follow behaviour-support and therapeutic approaches
*Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
Key Responsibilities
*Support the class teacher in delivering personalised learning that meets pupils’ academic and emotional needs
*Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students with emotional regulation, engagement, and communication
*Implement strategies to reduce anxiety, encourage positive behaviour, and promote independence
*Assist in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure consistency and holistic supportHelp with daily routines, sensory needs, and practical tasks that support students throughout the school day
