Job Description:
Policy Improvement & Risk Manager
*Organisation: Rotherham Council
*Working Arrangement: Hybrid 3 days in-office per week
*Job Type: Initial 6-month Temporary Contract
Rotherham Council are seeking a Policy Improvement & Risk Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the shaping of the Council’s direction and service delivery. This position is crucial for developing policies linked to the Council’s priorities and statutory duties, aiming to drive continuous improvement and ensure robust governance.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Support the Head of Policy, Performance and Intelligence in developing and advancing policy matters.
*Identify risks and areas for corporate improvement, collaborating with relevant services to implement appropriate mitigations and action plans.
*Monitor and report on the performance in delivering the Council Plan and work with services to develop action plans to strengthen performance where required.
*Develop future strategy and policy direction for the Council, including business-critical policies on corporate risk, equalities, diversity and inclusion, and social value.
*Conduct research and analysis to understand the opportunities and challenges facing the borough, its communities, and the needs of its customers.
*Provide high-quality advice to assist in the good governance of the Council, including corporate risk management and performance against council plan key priorities.
*Oversee and produce council plan performance information, both internally and externally, including quarterly reports and benchmarking to inform improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Demonstrated experience in corporate performance risk across all aspects.
*Proven ability to review and implement risk management approaches.
*Extensive experience in using corporate governance systems.
*Strong analytical skills and ability to develop strategies based on research and data.
*Excellent communication and advisory skills, capable of working effectively with various stakeholders.
