My client a historic London based retail business are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Company Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations and lead the modernisation of their bookkeeping processes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a unique, heritage environment while implementing contemporary systems and best practices.
*Salary £45,000-£50,000.
*You will be required to work 5 days in the office
*Office located within a historic art bookshop in a beautiful part of London.
*Please note: the office has no windows, so candidates should be comfortable working in this environment.
*Small, close-knit team with a passion for art and literature.
Daily/Monthly Tasks:
*Conduct bank reconciliations for five accounts.
*Manage petty cash and credit card reconciliations.
*Handle day-end account posting and reconciliations.
*Process supplier invoice postings, analysis, and payments.
*Perform sales ledger analysis and credit control.
*Oversee monthly payroll and pension control.
*Conduct stocktaking and consignment tracking.
*Provide filing and administrative support.
Quarterly/Yearly Tasks:
*Prepare and submit VAT and US Sales Tax.
*Manage Companies House filings and confirmations.
*Execute end-of-year procedures including trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, and ledger reports.
*Reconcile suspense accounts and outstanding ledgers.
About You:
*Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance role.
*Strong knowledge of accounting principles and UK tax regulations.
*Proficiency in modern accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage, with some implementation experience.
*Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
*Capable of managing change and engaging stakeholders with new processes.
*Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
