HGV Technician
*Salary: £18.35 PAYE / £23.86 Umbrella
*Location: Rotherham
*Job Type: Full-time, 37-hour contract
We are seeking an HGV Technician to join our team, providing high-quality maintenance services for a diverse range of vehicles. This role requires expertise in fault diagnosis, safety inspections, and MOT preparation, among other responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly with HGVs.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Conduct periodic safety inspections on vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
*Carry out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and decommissioning inspections.
*Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT inspections.
*Perform fault diagnosis on complex systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components.
*Execute repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure high standards of maintenance.
*Work closely with the Workshop Manager to maintain the efficiency and reliability of the fleet.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in HGV and light commercial vehicle inspection, maintenance, and repair.
*Familiarity with municipal vehicles is desirable but not essential.
*Strong knowledge of workshop health and safety policies.
*Proficient in pneumatics, hydraulics, and 12/24v electrical systems.
*Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
*Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds, IMI Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent.
*Full UK Driving Licence with Category C or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment.
