Senior Buyer

NJR Recruitment are currently working with a well-established Wholesaler, who are now seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team in Manchester.

Role Purpose:
You will manage key business sourcing activities both directly from factories and through importers. Identify reliable suppliers in line with key business supply & product requirements, negotiate contracts and deliver business cost and process efficiencies. Working closely with the Category Managers and Product Team to ensure the company has the right supply base to deliver competitive and consistent product/supply.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Base Strategy and Planning
*Alongside the Head of Supply Chain, identify and select suppliers to deliver the business supply objectives, through new, consolidated and exited suppliers.
*Support strategic product range reviews, including in-season range rationalisation and product drop decisions.
*Review macro and micro economic climate assessing supply chain risk levels and identifying potential opportunities.
Sourcing/Buying
*Source products directly from factories and through importers based on business needs.
*Evaluate supplier capabilities and conduct factory audits as needed.
*Monitor market trends and identify new sourcing opportunities.
*Manage the RFQs(Quotations) in a timely manner in line with key sourcing/project activities.
*Negotiate & agree cost pricing that delivers Business margin expectations.
Vendor Management
*Handles supplier onboarding.
*Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and importers.
*Agree and measure Supplier SLAs in collaboration with the wider supply chain team.
*Carry out Supplier reviews.
Compliance
*Gatekeeper for product supply compliance with safety, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
*Implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 supply mapping.
*Inform and educate the wider business on supply and product compliance regulatory requirements.
Administration
*Maintain Supplier Master files and provide updated to Product Data for system updates.
*Maintain Supplier records both commercial and compliance.
*Ensure Finance & Purchasing regularly updated on any change to commercial terms, trading parameters moq/mov etc.
Experience Required:
*UK and International (EU and FE) Travel will be required.
*Excellent communication and influencing skills across multiple levels.
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with seasonal peaks.
*Collaborative team player and effective influencer.
*Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
*Excellent knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
*Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability.
*Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration and stakeholder management.
*Ability to work with agility and self-motivation.
