Job Description:
Finance Assistant
Location: York
Salary: Up to £30,000 + Study Support
We are working with a well-established organisation in York to recruit a Finance Assistant. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play an important part in financial reporting, payroll accuracy and supporting wider business operations.
The Role
As Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:
*Supporting month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting, including management accounts, budgets, KPIs and financial statements
*Maintaining accurate financial records and updating ledgers via journals
*Reconciling income and work in progress schedules, and assisting with project invoicing
*Liaising with auditors, both internal and external
*Working with HR and the payroll provider to ensure accurate monthly payroll, including bonus calculations, holiday accruals and reconciliations between Sage 200 and payroll
*Providing ad hoc administrative support and processing transactions as needed
*Assisting in the supervision and development of a finance apprentice
The Person
The successful candidate will bring:
*Payroll and accounting experience
*AAT Level 4 qualification preferred
*Advanced Excel skills, including functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF and pivot tables
*Experience of Sage 200
*Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
*Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across finance, HR and audit
