Public Transport Delivery Planner
*Annual Salary: £39,000 - £42,000
*Location: Huntingdon
*Job Type: Permanent,Full-time
Reed is working with a client in Huntingdon. They are seeking a Public Transport Delivery Planner to join their Public Transport Department. This role is crucial for planning and delivering an effective bus network through contracted mechanisms, ensuring optimal performance and value for money. The ideal candidate will have experience in transport service planning, particularly within a franchised or contracted model, and possess strong contract management skills.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Contract Management & Performance Oversight: Ensure effective management of bus network contracts, monitor performance, enforce contract terms, and implement solutions for poor service delivery.
*Budget & Cost Management: Manage contract budgets, ensuring cost control and enforcing penalties for underperformance.
*Network Planning & Service Improvements: Assess and propose enhancements to the network, adjust timetables, and expand services based on performance data and passenger needs.
*Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track service performance against targets, producing actionable reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
*Expert Consultation & Review: Provide specialist advice on bus network reviews, ensuring projects meet time, budget, and quality expectations.
*Project Pipeline & Stakeholder Collaboration: Develop and deliver network improvement projects, ensuring engagement with key stakeholders, including the public.
*Procurement & Contract Management: Oversee procurement exercises, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and high-quality service delivery.
*Financial & Resource Oversight: Manage resources within budget, ensuring financial controls are in place and providing accurate budget monitoring reports.
*Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with internal teams, external partners, and the public regarding bus services and improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience: Proven experience in planning and delivering bus services or comparable transport services.
*Knowledge: Strong understanding of contract management principles and performance mechanisms. Familiarity with UK bus industry regulations and operations is desirable.
*Skills: High-level budget management skills, excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel, data analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
*Qualifications: Ability to quickly develop knowledge of Department for Transport guidance on bus service delivery and operational models.
*Behaviours: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making skills, and resilience in high-pressure situations.
