This includes autistic spectrum conditions, severe learning difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, genetic conditions, communication and language difficulties, and associated social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Pupils are working below age-related expectations, so your role will be vital in creating an environment where they can thrive and develop confidence, independence, and key life skills.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide individualised support for pupils with complex needs, including autism and sensory impairments.
*Assist in delivering a fully differentiated curriculum tailored to each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists (speech, occupational, physio), and healthcare professionals.
*Support pupils with communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and assistive technology.
*Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
*Help pupils develop independence and social skills in a safe, nurturing environment.
Ideal Background
This role is perfect for candidates with experience in:
*Special schools or mainstream education supporting SEN pupils.
*Care settings, including dementia care or residential support.
*Support work in health and social care environments.
Your transferable skills—patience, empathy, and resilience—are highly valued.
Essential Skills
*Experience supporting individuals with SEN or complex needs.
*Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
*Strong communication and teamwork skills.
*A caring, proactive approach.
Desirable
*Knowledge of autism and sensory processing.
*Familiarity with EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
*Moving & handling experience.
What We Offer
*A highly skilled, supportive team environment.
*Ongoing professional development and training.
*The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
