Specialist Cleaning Operative

The UEA are seeking a Specialist Cleaning Operative to join our Cleaning Services team within the Estates & Facilities Division at the University of East Anglia. This role is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the university’s external areas, including operating access platforms, working at height, and pressure washing. The position requires flexibility, including weekend work, to meet operational demands.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Access Platforms: Safely operate and maintain access platforms, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
*Working at Height: Perform cleaning tasks at various heights, utilizing appropriate safety harnesses and equipment.
*Pressure Washing: Efficiently use pressure washing equipment to clean building exteriors, removing dirt, grime, and other contaminants.
*Building Facade Cleaning: Execute thorough cleaning of building facades, including windows, cladding, and other external surfaces.
*Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety checks and reporting any hazards or incidents.
*Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on cleaning equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working order.
*Flexible Working: Be available for flexible working hours, including weekends during summer months, to accommodate client needs and project deadlines.
*Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients and the public, maintaining a positive company image.
*Managing Self: Demonstrates autonomy in operational decision-making, including assessing weather conditions to determine safe and effective work scheduling.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Valid certification or training in the use of access platforms (e.g., IPAF, PASMA).
*Working at height certification or relevant experience.
*Proven experience as an external cleaning operative or in a similar role.
*Proficiency in operating access platforms and pressure washing equipment.
*Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques and best practices for external surfaces.
*Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations.
*Excellent time management and organizational skills.
*Good communication and interpersonal skills.
*Valid driver’s licence and ability to pass a background check are desirable.
