Job Description:
Teaching Assistant - SEN Unit
*Daily Rate: Competitive
*Location: Attached to a Primary School (specific location to be disclosed upon application)
*Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. This unit specifically supports pupils with significant social communication differences, such as autism. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences, under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
*Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
*Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
*Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
*Monitor and support the pupil’s emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the well-being and progress of students.
*Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and any incidents that occur, reporting to the relevant parties as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience working with children, particularly in an SEN setting.
*Understanding of the challenges faced by students with social communication differences, such as autism.
*Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach towards student needs.
*Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in using communication aids beneficial.
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of an SEN coordinator.
*Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous.
