Home to School Passenger Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Home to School Passenger Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) pupils during their daily commutes to and from school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising children, managing their safety during the journey, and acting as a communication link between the school and parents.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of SEND pupils during the journey.
*Secure seatbelts, harnesses, and specialist equipment correctly.
*Act as a link between parents, school, and management team for any issues that may arise.
*Manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
*Follow emergency procedures in case of medical incidents or vehicle breakdowns.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Must hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate for working with children and vulnerable adults.
*Ability to speak fluent English clearly to ensure young children can understand without difficulty.
*Must live in Wigan Borough or be able to travel to a designated meeting point within the area.
*Ability to complete a split shift, typically 07:30–09:30 AM and 14:30–16:45 PM.
*Previous experience working with SEND children is desirable.
*Understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
*Awareness of epilepsy and experience with autism and communication strategies are advantageous.
