Job Description:
Logistics Manager
*Annual Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
*Location: Exeter
*Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
We are seeking a Logistics Manager to join our client to ensure the smooth running, health & safety, and profitability of their depot. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong ability to communicate clearly at all levels within the organisation and with external customers. The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of key performance indicators and the ability to manage depot personnel effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Ensure the health and safety of all staff, contractors, and visitors on site.
*Motivate and drive excellence within the team.
*Responsible for the recruitment, assessment, and appraisal of direct-reporting staff.
*Manage resources optimally, including drivers and vehicle logistics.
*Oversee staff management activities such as approving timesheets, developing staff, coaching, and if necessary, disciplining.
*Plan and organise depot workloads to ensure efficient operations.
*Monitor, evaluate, and report on Depot KPIs.
*Handle depot financial budgeting and control.
*Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure all legal requirements associated with depot operations are met.
*Conduct depot and warehouse stock checks in line with procedures.
*Ensure compliance with the company’s procedures, processes, and instructions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transport and warehouse operations.
*Experience managing a team
*Proficiency in WMS, routing systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
*Excellent communication skills and leadership capabilities.
*Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where compliance and customer satisfaction are key.
