We are recruiting a reliable, hands-on SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist provision in Rotherham (S62), ideal for someone who thrives in high-expectation, SEMH-focused environments.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will deliver structured academic and behavioural support, guide pupils through clear routines, and use a confident, no-nonsense approach to reinforce discipline, focus, and independence. You’ll uphold high expectations, keep pupils on task, and help them develop strong learning habits.
Key Responsibilities as SEN Teaching Assistant:
*Structured Support: Assist with targeted academic tasks, adapted resources, and focused interventions.
*Routine Leadership: Maintain boundaries, reinforce expectations, and ensure calm daily structure.
*Behaviour Guidance: Use firm, steady strategies to regulate behaviour and keep pupils engaged.
*Direct Mentoring: Build straightforward, respectful relationships that promote resilience and self-control.
*Progress Monitoring: Track pupil engagement and behaviour, providing clear updates to senior staff.
*Professional Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, behaviour teams, and external services to maintain aligned standards.
To succeed as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
*Experience in SEN, SEMH, education, behaviour support, or similar structured environments.
*Strong presence with calm, controlled, and authoritative communication.
*Confidence managing challenging behaviour with clarity and consistency.
*Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to act quickly under pressure.
*An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through us.
