Transport Planner – UK Operations
We’re looking for a skilled Transport Planner to join a busy and fast-paced transport office, coordinating the daily delivery and collection of full loads, groupage, and container movements across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
*Plan and route deliveries and collections for full loads, groupage, and container traffic
*Ensure compliance with road transport legislation and the Working Time Directive (WTD)
*Communicate effectively with drivers and customers to maintain high service standards
*Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time
*Manage driver hours, trailer rotation, and fleet utilisation
*Oversee container movements, including VBS bookings and port collections
*Use a Transport Management System (TMS) and associated tools to manage operations
*Support the wider operations team to drive efficiency and service excellence
About You – Skills & Experience:
*Previous experience in transport planning or a back-office transport role
*Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
*Experience planning container or groupage loads
*Familiarity with VBS booking systems and Container Exec (preferred)
*Excellent communication and customer service skills
*Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
*Good IT skills, including TMS software
*Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Desirable:
*CPC qualification (advantageous but not essential)
Working Hours & Additional Info:
*Rotational shifts between 06:00 and 18:00
*Weekend work: 1 in 4 Saturday/Sunday mornings (additional payment provided)
