QTS Complex Needs Outreach Tutor Wigan

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced QTS Outreach Tutors to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to young people with complex needs in Wigan who are not currently attending school.

This role is ideal for teachers who are passionate about inclusive education and can adapt lessons to meet individual needs. Learners may have significant additional needs and could be fully reliant on adults for care, including wheelchair use. Experience with communication systems such as Makaton and PECS would be highly beneficial.

As an Outreach Tutor, you will:

Create, plan, and deliver highly personalised lessons in core subjects (English and Maths).

Focus on building confidence, engagement, and life skills.

Reintroduce structure and routine into the students day.

Work closely with Prospero Teaching to monitor progress and provide weekly updates.

Contract / Position Details
Location: Within the community or pupils homes in Wigan

Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs QTS required)

Type of work: Contract

Hours: Part-time, 15 - 25 hours per week

Pay: Minimum £30 per hour

Session length: Minimum 1 hour, maximum 3 hours per session

Start date: ASAP

Experience, Training and Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential

Minimum 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners

Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable)

Up-to-date Safeguarding training within the last year (desirable but not essential)

Eligibility Requirements
Right to work in the UK

Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Two professional child-related references covering the last two years
