Job Description:
As a 1:1 SEN Specialist Tutor, you will deliver up to 10 hours of tuition per week, tailored to the learner’s individual needs. Your sessions will combine academic instruction with emotional reassurance, creating a safe and positive learning environment that fosters trust and confidence. The goal is to help the learner rebuild routines, develop resilience, and make measurable academic progress.
Key Responsibilities *Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in core subjects and functional skills.
*Implement strategies to support SEMH needs, manage challenging behaviour, and address communication difficulties.
*Create a calm, structured learning environment that promotes engagement and progress.
*Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and safeguarding concerns.
*Liaise with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure continuity and consistency.

*Hours: Up to 10 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
*Pay Rate: £22-£30 per hour (dependent on experience)
Experience, Training & Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should have:
*Relevant SEN training (e.g., SEND Level 3, ABA, Team Teach, or similar).
*Minimum 12 months’ experience working with SEN/SEMH learners.
*Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and implement de-escalation techniques.
*Experience in behaviour support planning and personalised learning strategies.
*QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification (desirable but not essential).
*Up-to-date Safeguarding training (issued within the last year - desirable).
Eligibility Requirements To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:
*Hold Right to Work in the UK.
*Have an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
*Provide two professional child-related references from the last two years.
