Job Description:
We’re working with a long-established, multi-disciplined engineering business with over 100 years of successful trading. Due to continued growth, we’re seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support customers across the region and ensure the reliable operation of critical power equipment.

You’ll play a key role in the service, maintenance, installation and breakdown support of diesel generators and associated equipment. You will work both independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team, ensuring generator systems remain reliable, safe and compliant. This is a field-based role in the Ipswich and the surrounding area, so a driving license is required.

Key Responsibilities
*Carry out the service, maintenance and repair of diesel generators and associated plant.
*Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide effective on-site solutions.
*Conduct detailed fault-finding and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues quickly.
*Perform load bank testing to ensure equipment performance and compliance.
*Participate in the 24-hour emergency call-out rota (on-call 1 week in every 5).
*Support the installation and commissioning of new diesel generator systems.
*Utilise the latest diagnostic software and tools to deliver a high level of technical service to customers.

Skills & Experience Required
*Strong electrical and mechanical engineering background.
*Ideally qualified to 18th Edition (Approved Electrician status desirable).
*Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
*Experience with common generator control systems (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp, FG Wilson) would be an advantage.
*Competent IT skills with the ability to use diagnostic software and digital reporting tools.
*Full UK driving licence.
