Policy and Projects Officer - Democratic Participation
*Hourly Rate:
PAYE - £26.30
Umbrella - £34.15
*Location: London SE1, Hybrid (Remote / Union Street London)
*Job Type: Temporary (5 months from January to June 2026)
We are seeking a Policy and Projects Officer for a central London local authority to fill a temporary vacancy while the substantive post-holder is on secondment. This role is ideal for someone who can commit to the duration from January to June 2026, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects impacting London’s diverse communities.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Work in partnership with public sector agencies, voluntary and community groups, and the private sector to deliver projects and initiatives.
*Manage projects ensuring they are delivered to agreed targets and timescales.
*Plan and organise a variety of partnerships, engagement, and communications activities involving civil society, diverse communities, and a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
*Apply a strong understanding of equality of opportunity in all aspects of policy and project work, ensuring inclusivity and diversity.
*Address barriers to civic and democratic participation, including aspects of the voter registration process and under-represented communities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in partnership working with public sector agencies and various community groups.
*Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering initiatives on time.
*Experience in planning and organising engagement and communications activities.
*Deep understanding of, and commitment to, equality of opportunity and serving diverse communities.
*Knowledge of barriers to civic and democratic participation and electoral law changes.
*Ability to deliver at pace and meet tight deadlines, managing a busy workload and prioritising effectively.
*Proactive approach, using initiative and taking ownership of work.
*Desirable:
*Experience in democratic participation policy areas.
*Experience working on public communications campaigns or communications experience.
